Tuting's party scouts
for woman candidate
BY JUANCHO GALLARDE

The Pundok Kasaligan headed by Dumaguete Mayor Agustin Perdices and Vice Mayor William Ablong is looking for a lady candidate to replace a colleague who will pursue further studies.

Councilor Myrish Cadapan Antonio is reportedly pursuing her studies abroad as a Fullbright exchange scholar, and the party was scouting for a veteran lady broadcaster and civic leader in Oriental Negros.

Pundok Kasaligan mainstays include Councilors Rotelio Lumjod, Manuel Sagarbarria, Noel de Jesus, Franklin Esmeņa, Esperidion Catan, and Sal Erames.

Last-termer councilors Jun Diga, Samuel Dicen and Nelson Patrimonio will be replaced by Liga ng mga Barangay president Harison Gonzales, George Villamor to represent the education sector and Dandan Teves Leon.

Incumbent Councilor Sal Erames will be replaced by his son former city councilor Rommel Erames. Meanwhile, mayoral bet Arturo Umbac is finalizing the list of members of his party.

On the other hand, businessman Rafael Besas said he was elated with the endorsement from different groups to join politics but he is not interested at this time.

Some religious and civic clubs in the city floated his name to run for councilor.

A native of Bohol who migrated in Dumaguete 13 years ago, he is a member of Rotary Club of Dumaguete South and manager of a lending company. Besas said politics can unmake his family plans. He clarified, though, that he is not closing his doors to any possibilities.* JG
