Last-gasp triple sends
Talisay past Bad Boyz

Bryan Alunan hit a triple with a second left to lift Talisay Basketball Athletic Club over Bad Boyz, 87-86, at the start of the quarterfinals of the 7th Tank Kek Pin Memorial Cup Basketball Tournament at the Po Hang Gym of Bacolod Tay Tung High School.

Alunan topscored with 18 points but it was his three-pointer from the left quarter court that proved to be the basket that separated the two squads. Teammate Bandoy Allermo contributed 15 points. In the second game, Autoworld pulled off a 102-89 win over group 4 topnotcher Café Breizh.

Immuvit Player of the Game Mars Echarri fired 15 points, including four triples in the third quarter to key the breakaway. Rhett Demonteverde scored 14 points as he joined hands with Patrick Echarri and Stephen Barniso to put the finishing touches in the win.

Eugene Tsai also had 11 points, while Jeff Wee finished with 10.

Raffy Torrico, Ton Ton Belicina, and Garson Junto chipped in 12, 11, 8 points, respectively, for Talisay while Efren Miravalles led Bad Boyz with 13 points. Joebert Lomotan, Rodel Claro, and David Lacson had 9 apiece.

Bad Boyz, the second-ranked team from Group 4, charged early, leading, 26-16, at the end of the first quarter, before TBAC managed to cut the lead by a point by the end of the second quarter, 43-42 as Garson Junto and Raffy Torrico scored 8 and 7 points, respectively.

By the last quarter, Bad Boyz regained momentum inching away with a three-point lead, 64-67. Philip Famucol scored a lay-up during the game's to give Bad Boyz a two-point advantage, before Alunan's heroics that earned him Immuvit player of the game honors.

Yen Dolar led Breizh with 26 points. Engelo Guacena scored 14, while Melvin Joseff Baclay and Ronald Despi added 11 and 10, respectively. *PP
