ATO managers
hold conference

Managers of the Air Transportation Office met in Dumaguete City Monday to find out the reason that led the Dumaguete airport to win as the Cleanest and Most Outstanding Trunkline Airport in the country for three consecutive years.

Visayas area manager Rodulfo Perez said airport managers

discuss various concerns every quarter of the year.

Dumaguete ATO Chief Veronica Chuang said the city's Trunkline Airport is constructing a new building for its administration office.

The old office will be utilized as guest room while the passenger holding area will be expanded to accommodate more passengers.

She said she is also hoping that their request for an x-ray security machine will be granted after President Gloria Arroyo promised the renovation of the airport.

The local ATO is currently undertaking fencing construction around the airport area to secure the perimeter.

Chang said she has no special strategy in running the local ATO except for motivating her personnel to do their jobs well.

Meanwhile, Perez said tourism is one of the primary concerns of the ATO, especially with the increasing number of tourist arrivals in the country.

He said they needed to come up with plans of actions to develop the airports of the country.

Central Visayas is under the tourism belt area of the five super regions program of President Arroyo.*
