Bais mayor withdrawing
support to congressman

"If a dog will run against Dodo Macias, I will support the dog", Bais City Mayor Hector Villanueva said as he expressed his resentment against Rep. Emilio Macias II (2nd Dist. NegOr) for allegedly trying to hinder the distribution of Certificates of Entitlement for Lot Allocations Monday in Bais City.

Villanueva said he believes the motive of Macias was politically tainted.

He added that Macias had claimed that the CELA is illegal because there is a pending bill in Congress concerning the area to be awarded to beneficiaries.

Villanueva said Macias should be reminded that the awarding of CELA was in line with Presidential Proclamation No. 881 signed by President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo on July 28, 2005.

He stressed that the CELA was a dream come true for beneficiaries considering that the problem on the land had existed for more than 30 years. The mayor also said Macias was just bluffing and trying to put him on shame in front of the beneficiaries. The distribution of CELA was done with President Arroyo and Vice President Noli de Castro as guests of honor who handed the certificates to the beneficiaries.

Villanueva said he will not support Macias who had earlier formally announced his plan to run as governor in Oriental Negros in the May 14 polls. Villanueva clarified, through, that his dealings with Macias are very civil and professional, as both of them have a common vision for development.*MA
