Two Negrenses
convicted for rape
BY CARLA GOMEZ

Two Negrenses were convicted yesterday of raping their minor relatives, while another was acquitted of murder.

Judge Henry Arles of the Regional Trial Court of Kabankalan yesterday sentenced Rodolfo Sonquit to suffer the penalty of 8 to 12 years imprisonment for one count of rape, while Felix Villegas Sr. was found guilty on two counts and sentenced to 12 to 14 years imprisonment.

Sonquit, who was charged for raping his 10-year-old granddaughter on March 24, 2006, in Hinobaan town, entered a plea of guilty on re-arraignment.

Villegas was accused of raping his stepdaughter in Kabankalan City when she was 11 years old in August 2004 and when she was 13 on Oct. 30, 2006.

On re-arraignment Villegas pleaded guilty to two counts of rape.

Meanwhile, Arles yesterday acquitted Ambrocio Cajilig of the crime of murder based on reasonable doubt.

Cajilig was charged along with Rolando Paglinawan for the murder of Arnel Talaman, 26, Barangay Pinaguinpinan, Kabankalan City on Nov. 15, 2005. Arles placed the murder case against Paglinawan in the archives subject to revival upon his apprehension.*CPG
