Two troopers of the Regional Mobile Group will face administrative
charges for allegedly threatening and slapping two brothers in Bacolod
City Friday.
Senior Supt. Pedro Merced, group director of the 6th Regional
Mobile Group, yesterday told the DAILY STAR in a phone interview
that he is waiting for the investigation report on the grave threats
complaints filed against Police Officers 1 William Sarosa Escalada
and Neal Estacion, both members of the 603rd Mobile Company, 6th
RMG at E. Lopez, Silay City.
Merced said he has directed Chief Insp. David Cachumbo, 6th
RMG Investigation Division head, to investigate the complaints and
determine the administrative liabilities of the two policemen.
Police reports showed that Escalada and Estacion are accused
of allegedly threatening Tristan Miravalles, 23, and his 16-year-old
brother at the People's Village bar at 22nd-Lacson streets, Bacolod
City, at about 10:50 p.m. Friday.
The brothers claimed that the two policemen slapped them several
times and one of them threatened them with his firearm, police reports
said.
The police officers denied the allegations and claimed that
the complainants were under the influence of intoxicating liquor
and had been responsible for the commotion, police reports also
said.
Merced said Escalanda and Estacion, who were supposed to be
part of the 6th RMG team to undergo Internal Security Operations
in Iloilo today, should explain their presence in the bar.
He said he will also determine whether the accused will be charged
of election gun ban for carrying their firearm in the bar without
authorization from the Commission on Elections.*DMG
