Japanese donates
piglets, feeds

A Japanese national donated 250 piglets and 250 sacks of feeds to residents of Silay City, Negros Occidental, Monday, a press release from the city said.

The donation from Kimiko Inoue was received by Mayor Carlo Gamban and Vice Mayor Jay Jalandoni, who assisted in the distribution of piglets at the city plaza.

Inoue, who also gave an "especial rope" from Japan was presented to city employees at the flag-raising ceremony, at the Natalio Velez Sports and Cultural Center, and was given a plaque of appreciation by Gamban, in behalf of Silaynons, the press release added.*

USLS faculty
holds tree-planting

The faculty of the College of Arts and Sciences of the University of St. La Salle in Bacolod City recently held a tree-planting activity in Don Salvador Benedicto, Negros Occidental, a press release from the group said.

Nangka and mahagony seedlings were planted at the site now known as the USLS CAS Park. The activity was adopted after the teachers visited and donated books to the Sofronio Carmona Memorial High School, the press release said.

Vice Mayor Marxlene de la Cruz welcomed the group headed by Dean Gloria Fuentes, Mathematics Department chairperson Angela Fatima Guzon, outreach coordinator Aileen Estanda, and in the presence of school principal Benjie Gonzales at the turnover, the press release added.*

USLS faculty
holds tree-planting

The Bacolod Christian Center will hold a raffle called "Help Build a Dream, Win a Car Raffle" 3 p.m. Friday, in line with its 53rd Center Week celebration, at the BCC campus grounds, in Bacolod City, a press release from the school said.

Gov. Joseph Maraņon and Bureau of Internal Revenue district officer Mansueta Rios will be the guests of honor. The theme of the project is "Sustaining our Vision in Fulfilling God's Mission."

A brand new 2006 Honda Civic is at stake in the raffle, that hopes to raise funds to build additional classrooms and a sports center for BCC students. The grand prize solicitor will receive a cash prize and a one-year full scholarship grant in the school. Second and third prize winners will receive entertainment and kitchen showcases, respectively, and 10 winners will get consolation prizes.

Activities yesterday were a Daybreak service, fun day and sportsfest, and set today are the playground demonstration, and rummage sale. Also scheduled are the variety show, and Science and Makabayan exhibits, among others, the press release added.*
