Rondalla Festival kicks off

About 450 of the best performers in rondalla music from Europe, the Middle East, Asia and Latin America are performing in the 2nd International Rondalla Festival dubbed "Cuerdas sa Panaghiusa", or Strings of Unity that kicked off Monday at the Negros Oriental Convention Center, Capitol Area, Dumaguete City.

Six of the delegates are Filipino talents, among them Kwerdas of the Silliman University and the La Libertad Children's Rondalla.

Gala and matinee performances for the public are set today until Friday, Mariant Villegas, provincial Arts and Culture Council chairperson, Board Member, said.

Tickets for the shows are available at the Provincial Tourism Office, Perdices Coliseum Complex and at the Macias Sports Center, at Capitol Compound. Aside from the concerts at the Convention Center, the rondalla ensembles will also hold outreach performances today until Friday.

Farewell performances will be held Saturday, 7 p.m. at the Rizal Boulevard and at the Aquino Freedom Park on Sunday.*RG
