Police to focus campaign
on illegal drugs, gambling

Senior Insp. Santiago Rapiz yesterday said he will focus on the campaign against illegal drugs and illegal gambling, which have reportedly resumed operations after his relief as E.B. Magalona police on Jan. 13.

Town residents reported that illegal gambling and drug peddling activities have resurfaced in the poblacion barangays of E.B. Magalona, in the past weeks.

Rapiz who will re-assume command of the E.B.Magalona police today, called on residents of E.B. Magalona to secretly inform him through text messages, about on the locations of the gambling dens and those who extend protection to their financiers.

Police records show that majority of cases lodged against Rapiz before the Office of the Visayas Ombudsman were filed by the families of arrested drug pushers.

The return of Rapiz to E.B. Magalona was ordered by Western Visayas police chief Wilfredo Dulay, and approved by the Commission on Elections regional office.

Rapiz had served as officer-in-charge of Pulupandan town police for about two weeks when Dulay ordered his return to E.B. Magalona. Senior Insp. Rone Grajo, officer-in-charge of the E.B. Magalona police, is now expected to return to the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office.

Meanwhile, Rapiz assured that the E.B. Magalona police will be non-partisan in the May 14 elections.

During the election period, the PNP is under the control of the COMELEC and cannot transfer personnel without its approval.
