Seven
cagers make
grade in Elite Camp
Six basketball standouts from Negros Occidental and another from Iloilo have been selected to advance to the national Nike Elite Camp set from March 30 to April 4 at Brent International School in Malampasan, Laguna.
St. La Salle's Iggy Villanueva and Luigi de la Paz, Jorey
Tajonera of St. Johns Institue and Kim Flores of Bacolod Tay Tung High
School made the grade along with Murcia-born Rommel Vivero and Bacoleno
Joey Kevin Sellado, Dexter Dy, local Elite Camp coordinator, told the
DAILY STAR. The local try-out was held Jan. 21 at the St. John's Institute
Activity Center with former Philippine Basketball Association coach
Eric Altamirano, multi-titled San Beda high school mentor Ato Badolato
and Welcoat assistant coach and former MBA star Alex Compton conducting
the camp.

Silverado claims ESD Silverado ASSFBI bagged the championship of the Bago City Bowlers Association-organized Trio Bowling Tournament at Plaza Arcade Bowling Alley in Bago City. The champion squad led the 12-team pack from start to finish to grab the top prize of the four-game series event. Carrying the colors for ESD were Edgar Allan del Rosario, Victor
Delfin, Sylvia Del Rosario, and Nerio Regollo. The combination of
Norman Pineda, Pete Aplaon, Nene Borlado, and Cecil Silverio, of
ASSFBI Silverado secured the second spot, while Amor composed of
Roger Flores, Rene Buencochillo and Boy Tisoy Villanueva took third
place. |

NOVA
tilt draws About 43 teams, spread in eight age-groups, are seeing action in the 17th staging of the NOVA-NOCSF Age-Group Volleyball Tournament that starts today at the University of St. La Salle College Covered Court in Bacolod City. Vying for the boys' 10-under title are E.B. Magalona A and Queen of Peace School, while three teams from St. John's Institute, two teams from St. Benilde School and a team each from Trinity Christian School, E.B. Magalona, QPS and USLS-Integrated School will play in the girls' division. The 12-Under boys' competition will feature La Consolacion Academy-Murcia,
E.B. Magalona, QPS and USLS-IS, while SJI, TCS, La Carlota City,
Silay, Escalante and USLS-IS will slug it out for the girls' crown.
