The three major services of the Department of Interior and Local
Government - police, fire and jail - will soon have new and permanent
homes in Brgy. Mambulac, Silay City, Negros Occidental.
Mayor Carlo Gamban yesterday said the 7,614 square-meter lot
donated by the city government of Silay, will house the stations
of the Philippine National Police, Bureau of Fire and Protection,
as well as the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology. Copies of
the deeds of donation were turned over by Gamban yesterday to Senior
Supt. Rosendo Franco, provincial police director, Senior Supt. Romeo
Bio, BJMP regional director, and Chief Inspector Mumar Pama, BFP
provincial chief of Negros Occidental, in a ceremony in Brgy. Mambulac
in Silay City.
Franco said he will present copy of the deed of donation signed
between the PNP and the city government of Silay, to PNP chief Oscar
Calderon, in his bid to avail of funding for the construction of
the new Silay police station.
"This is a one-stop-shop facility of the PNP, BJMP and BFP
in Silay," he added.
As stipulated in the deed of donation, the PNP got 2,448 square
meters, BJMP - 2,361 square meters and 2,815 square meters went
to the BFP.
The three major DILG service agencies have been given three
years to construct their respective infrastructures, or the donated
lots will revert to the Silay City government.
Gamban said the donation of sites for the future administrative
and operation centers of PNP, BFP and BJMP in Silay, are part of
his master development for Silay City, in line also with the soon
to operate international airport in the place.
'We have committed ourselves to continue upgrading the capability
of these three service forces in terms of facilities, equipment
and personnel training as we face the uncertainties of fast occurring
progress and development in Silay City,' Gamban said.
He also acknowledged Supt. Celestino Guara, former Silay police
chief, for being instrumental in the realization of the project.
The ceremony held at Sunburst Restaurant in Brgy.Mambulac,
Silay, was also witnessed by Senior Supt. Pedro Merced, 6th RMG
director, Lt. Col. Felicisimo Budiongan, Task Force North commander,
Chief Inspector Calixto Mabugat, Silay police chief, City Fire Marshall
Romulo Villavecer, BJMP provincial chief Samson Abaygar, Vice-Mayor
Jay Jalandoni and Councilors Marie June Pavillar-Castro, Mario Gamboa,
