PNP ordered: Return
Rapiz to EB Magalona
BY CARLA GOMEZ

The Commission on Elections has approved the retention of Senior Inspector Santiago Rapiz as police chief of EB Magalona and the Region 6 PNP office has directed its enforcement, Mayor Alfonso Gamboa said last night.

Gamboa furnished the DAILY STAR with a copy of the order from Chief Supt. Wilfredo Dulay Sr., PNP Regional Director, to Senior Supt. Rosendo Franco, Negros Occudental police director, to return Rapiz to EB Magalona from Pulupandan.

"I am very happy about it. The process was followed and in the end good performance prevailed over fabricated accusations that were mere harassment. I am glad the PNP organization saw through it," Gamboa said.

"The PNP upheld professionalism in their organization," he added.

On Feb. 8 Dulay wrote to Commission on Elections regional director Renato Magbutay recommending that Rapiz, who is presently assigned in Pulupandan, be returned to his position as police chief of EB Magalona.

During the election period, the PNP is under the control of the COMELEC and cannot transfer personnel without its approval.

Gamboa had strongly recommended the immediate return of Rapiz to EB Magalona, Dulay said.*CPG
