The Sugar Industry Foundation Inc. conducted its
38th medical-dental mission at Tanza Elementary School, Brgy. Tanza,
E.B. Magalona, Negros Occidental, recently, a SIFI press release
said.
The team was headed by Edith Villanueva and SIFI
staff, with support from Mayor Alfonso Gamboa, and in coordination
with the Employers Confederation of the Philippines represented
by Rolando Moya and Dang Buevaventura.
Also present were Board Member Reynaldo Depasucat
(3rd district, Neg.Occ.), Brgy. Captain Arturo Billena, barangay
health workers, and school teachers headed by Principal Rowena Bulfa.
A total of 446 sugar farm workers and their dependents
from nearby haciendas and small planters availed of free consultations
and tooth extractions performed by Drs. Lillyn Mae Oriel, Marites
Garriel, Rea Asparen, Edwin Jayme, Mario and Tina Oliveros and Andrei
Depasucat, the press release said.
The press release added that, 340 availed of free
consultation and medicines, and 106, dental extractions and medicines.*

Army
holds bloodletting
The army's 303rd Infantry Brigade, in collaboration
with the City Health Office of Murcia and the Provincial Health
Office of Negros Occidental, conducted a bloodletting activity Tuesday
at the multi-purpose building of the Brigade at Brgy. Minoyan, Murcia,
a press release from the brigade said.
Sixty-one army personnel and trainees of the
Special CAFGU Active Auxiliary Class 02-07, led by Brigade Executive
Officer Lt. Col. Joel de la Torre, donated 27,450 c.c. of blood
plasma.
They underwent blood pressure check-up, blood-typing
and Hepatitis examination.
On the same day, the 31st Division Reaction Company
under the Task Group North of the Brigade also had a similar activity
at their headquarters in Brgy. Bagtic, Silay City, the press release
said.
It was held in collaboration with the Silay City
Health Office and the Office of the Vice Mayor of Silay. The troops
donated 4,500 c.c. of blood.
The bloodletting was part of the Valentine's
Day celebration of the Brigade and culminated with a night of socials
for the soldiers and their families at the Brigade Headquarters.
B/Gen. Gregorio Fajardo, the commanding general
of the 303rd Infantry Brigade, said that the blood his soldiers
donated could save lives.
"This is a simple way of expressing that 'Your Army
in Negros Cares' for the Negrenses," he added.*

Life Ministries turns 14
His Life Ministries-Bacolod will celebrate its 14th
anniversary on February 16 to 18 with activities that include a
"Fit 2 Run Fit 2 Serve" commitment run.
Pastor Joebert Ramos said their first activity
is the Evangecube Gospel Fiesta at Robinson's Metro (across the
Bacolod Airport) where training seminars on how to use the Evangecube
to spread the gospel, will be held on Feb. 16 and 17.
He said the E-cube was invented by a missionary
for the purpose of sharing the gospel without any language barrier.
He said it is effective because one can share the gospel in Tagalog,
Ilonggo, or any dialect.
He said a 25 kilometer commitment run, will be
held from MacDonald's at 6th Street to Robinson's Metro on Feb.
17, a 50 kilometer "Resurrection Run" from Bacolod to La Carlota
on April 8, and a 100-kilometer "Freedom Run" from Bacolod to La
Carlota on June 11 and from La Carlota to Bacolod on June 12.
To commemorate the first death anniversary of
Alvin "Butch" Armada, one of their members, a 250 kilometer memorial
run will be stage by Alvin's older brother Bert from Dumaguete to
Bacolod on July 19 to 21, he said.
Their 14th year Sunday worship celebration will be
held on Feb. 18 at Robinsons Cinema 4 and the Youth Extreme 5th
Anniversary will be held at Cinema 5 which will be participated
in by college and high school students, he added.*CGS
