Policemen intercepted two brothers for violating the Commission
on Elections gun ban Wednesday, in Barangay Paniabonan, Bayawan
City, Oriental Negros.
The suspects, identified as Allan Garcia, 28, married, a driver,
and his brother, Alib, 20, single, jobless, are residents of Barangay
Bagtic, Mabinay town.
The suspects who were riding a Honda XRM motorcycle without
plate number, were flagged down by Troopers of Regional Mobile Group
led by P/Insp. Philip Lozaga the 701st Regional Mobile Group Company
who were conducting a checkpoint at the boundary crossing of Bayawan
and Mabinay.
During body search, the police recovered a Gold Cup .45 caliber
pistol with one magazine and five rounds of live ammunition, and
a .357 revolver with defaced trade markings and chamber without
bullets, allegedly owned by the brothers.
Charges for violation of the Comelec gun ban are now being
readied against the suspects.
Meanwhile, in Dumaguete City, a security guard employed by
the Zionights Security Agency was charged with illegal possession
of firearms and violation of the COMELEC gun ban. Security guard
Heide Calibo Banglos, 30, male, single, of Larena, Siquijor, was
arrested Saturday, when he tried to evade the checkpoint at North
National Highway corner Villa Amada, Daro, Dumaguete City.
His office address is 73 Dr. Meciano Road, Barangay Taclobo,
Dumaguete.
Police said, Banglos evaded the checkpoint but was caught
by Traffic Management Office personnel in the vicinity. Police also
recovered from the suspect a homemade .38 caliber revolver with
four live bullets.
Banglos was presented a duty detail credentials but it had
expired in January this year. Records revealed that the credentials
were issued for one year, and the designated place of the guard
is at New Yanyan Commercial, corner Mabini and Sta. Rosa Street,
Dumaguete.
He was charged with illegal possession of firearm, and violation
of the Omnibus Election Code under Comelec Resolution No. 7764-A,
or the Comelec gun ban.*RG
