AWOL cop
'most wanted' in Dumaguete
BY JUANCHO GALLARDE

A police officer who went on absence without official leave is now on the wanted list and could land in the top 10 most wanted persons in Dumaguete City.

Numeriano Gabo was dropped from the rolls of the Philippine National Police due to drug charges. Instead of going to the rehabilitation center for illegal drug use, Gabo went AWOL. He was among the 19 individuals caught by Task Force 24 having a pot session inside a so-called drugs den in Brgy. Looc last year, police records show.

Police city chief, Supt. Dionardo Carlos, has called on Gabo to give in peacefully to authorities and face the charges in court.

While allegedly holding a gun, Gabo used members of his family as human shields when Task Force 24 members were about to serve the warrant for his arrest.

Carlos said the police did not want collateral damage because Gabo could have been in possession of a hand grenade and a hand gun, prompting TF 24 members to take extra precaution. Carlos, however, warned Gabo that they may have to use necessary means in serving the warrant for the suspect.*JG
