Mayor Agustin Perdices yesterday disclosed that one of the priority
development projects that the Macias-Arnaiz-Perdices alliance would
undertake is the diversion road in Dumaguete City.
This will ease traffic coming and going from the south and
north to the capital city of Oriental Negros, Perdices said. MAP,
which stands for the triumvirate of Rep. Emilio Macias II (Neg.
Or., 2nd district), Gov. George Arnaiz, and Perdices, has embarked
on joint development projects, particularly the road concreting
in Dumaguete City,
"It's not just me but the three of us, (referring to
Macias and Arnaiz) who need to finish things before our terms end
soon", Perdices said in an interview.
He also said that one of the biggest projects they will undertake
is the proposed diversion road leading from the south national highway.
This is somewhere along the interior Bacong-Valencia road cutting
across to Bajumpandan near the extension campus of the Negros Oriental
State University, then onwards to Batinguel and straight on to the
village of Magatas in Sibulan town.
Perdices admitted that it is uncertain yet when they can have
the complete stretch of the diversion road cemented as it would
cost P400 million. He assured that the road will be opened in stages.
He also said there are other things to do first, such
as the acquisition of lands through which the road will pass, and
payment of vertical structures that will be affected by the road
opening. Perdices said about P120 million is needed for this project.
Meanwhile, road projects paid from city, provincial, congressional
and national funds are already being implemented, or will be implemented
in Dumaguete after the elections, Perdices said.*JG
