Gretchen C.
still running, Charlie says
BY CARLA GOMEZ

Rep. Carlos Cojuangco (Neg. Occ., 4th district) yesterday told the DAILY STAR that, as far as he knows, his mother, Gretchen O. Cojuangco, is still running for congresswoman of the fourth district of Negros Occidental.

"I think she will still make the best representative to continue the programs and projects in the fourth district," Cojuangco, who is on his third term, said. Cojuangco said his mother will make a great contribution to the United Negros Alliance in terms of solidifying political unity within the district and thus, for the province.

Rumors have been circulating that she may not run shows that the political season, he said. He also said his mother has been spending a lot of time in the fourth district meeting with the people.

"As far as I am concerned she is still running, she has not told me otherwise. If she were not running, I think, she would have told me," he said.

We will know she is not running if she does not file her certificate of candidacy by March 29, he said.

La Carlota Mayor Jeffrey Ferrer and Board Member Ike Barredo had earlier been eyeing the fourth congressional seat but both said they would stand down if Mrs. Cojuangco runs for the post.

Meanwhile, Rep. Cojuangco said their party's candidate for mayor of Bago is Vice Mayor Ramon Torres, Jilson Tubillara for San Enrique, Jomar Alonso - Pontevedra and Jeffrey Ferrer for La Carlota.

He said the candidates for Pulupandan and Valladolid will be announced later.*CPG
