3 nabbed in shabu busts

Three more persons allegedly engaged in drug peddling activities in Talisay City, Negros Occidental were arrested by the police who recovered from them 12 sachets of suspected shabu and more than P50,000 in cash believed to be proceeds from the sale of prohibited drugs, on Feb. 8 and 10..

Chief Inspector Joseph Martir, Talisay police chief, yesterday identified those arrested as Jimmy Drilon, alias Jimmy Heart, who topped the drug watch list of the Talisay police, and Danilo Almores Sr. and his son, Danilo Jr.

Drilon was arrested on Saturday during a raid at his residence at Purok Lagang, Brgy. Zone 3, Talisay City, conducted by virtue of a search warrant issued by Judge Antonio Guinanao. Martir said the raid yielded 12 sachets of suspected shabu and its paraphernalia, four cellphones and P52,700 in cash believed to be proceeds from the sale of prohibited drugs.

On Thursday, a combined team of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency and local policemen also arrested Danilo Almores Sr. and his son, Junior, during a raid at their residence in Brgy. Zone 10, Talisay City.

Martir said the elder Almores has also been listed in the drug watch list of the Talisay police.

The raid also yielded four sachets of suspected shabu, P2,000 in marked money and P450 in cash, also believed to be proceeds from the sale of prohibited drugs.

The arrest of Drilon, Almores and his son, took place after the Talisay police also arrested Regie Koa and Joven Catalogo in Brgy. Dos Hermanas, Talisay City.

Martir said the name of Koa is included in the drug watch list of the Talisay police.

Catalogo surrendered to the Talisay police two elongated sachets of suspected shabu worth P1,500. The five arrested persons are now detained at the police station jail of Talisay.*GPB

Bukas Kotse victim

A Bacolod City hall employee reported that he was victimized by "bukas kotse" suspects at Cuadra-Locsin streets, Bacolod City, at about 3 p.m. yesterday.

The complainant, who requested not to be named, told the DAILY STAR, he parked his Toyota Hi-Lux pick up to get something from a nearby grocery store when unidentified suspect broke into the car.

He said the suspect or suspects destroyed the window at the passenger's side and stole his car stereo worth P8,000 and grocery items worth P15,000. The complainant said he used to park his car in the area and was confident that it was locked when he left.

Meanwhile, a 17-year-old student reported to Police Station 1 that three unidentified persons held her up and took her P10,000 in cash and Nokia 3530 cellphone, police reports said.

On Thursday, Ingrid Marie Varela, 18, of Eroreco Subdivision, Brgy. Mandalagan, Bacolod City, reported to Police Station 2 that an unidentified person snatched her Nokia 3660 cellphone while she was riding a passenger jeepney at 7th-Lacson streets at about 11:45 p.m., police reports said.

Varela told the police she did not notice the suspect who pretended to be a jeepney passenger, police reports said.*DMG

2 mauled in Bata

Two Bacolod residents reported to Police Station 3 that a group of persons waylaid and mauled them in Purok Pepsi, Zone 5, Brgy. Bata, Bacolod City at about 10:30 p.m. Friday.

Alex Javellana Benedicto, 18, of Brgy. Bata told the police a certain "Tong-tong", and his companions, all of Bangga Rose Lawn, in the same barangay, mauled him and his companions without any reason, police reports said.

Benedicto said Tong-tong hit him on the back with a beer bottle. Tong-tong's companion, identified as "Caloy Mendoza", poked a .45 caliber pistol at him, he also said.

He said he managed to run, and Mendoza fired a gun at him four times but, fortunately he was not hit, police reports said.

Benedicto's companion Lloyd Tilano Orceo, 38, of Brgy. Bata, told the police they were walking in the area when the suspects blocked them. He said Benedicto tried to pacify the suspects, but Mendoza boxed him and fired at him.

Meanwhile, Encarnacion Legaspina Pescados, 53, of Purok Herbabuena, Brgy. Villamonte filed threat and malicious mischief complaints against her neighbor at about 12:50 p.m. Saturday.

Pescados told the police her neighbor, a certain "Neneng Palabrica", ran amuck and hacked her wall and door made of plywood with a bolo. She said Palabrica also threatened her, police reports said.*DMG
