Monet not running,
angry at treachery
BY CARLA GOMEZ

Businessman Ramon "Monet" Lacson yesterday said he has definitely decided not run for mayor of Talisay City in the May polls because he is "fighting an enemy in front, and termites in the back."

Lacson's withdrawal from the race leaves incumbent mayor, Eric Saratan, without an opponent so far. The last day for filing of certificates of candidacy for local elective positions is March 29. Lacson said the media should look into last year's Commission on Audit report on Talisay to get to the bottom of what is happening in the city.

However, he does not want to "ugtas (be angry) because my heart might give way," Lacson said.

"Even if I know I will win, I prefer to have my heart continue pumping rather than winning," he said.

He said he can stand the rigors of the campaign, "What I cannot handle is treachery of people."

"It is the dirty maneuvering of termites I can not stand," he said.

However, he refused to elaborate as to whom he was referring to as "termites."

Lacson said he was withdrawing from the race with a heavy heart because a lot of his supporters were getting very emotional and, "that weighs me down."*CPG
