Cops try to
avert gang war

Two men were recently victimized by a gang after four members of the BLOODS group allegedly mauled them Friday night at Maria Cristina Street, Dumaguete City.

The police said the victims, Francis Enopia, 21, from Canday-ong, Calindagan, and Menardo Nillas, 22, of Bajumpandan, may possibly be members of another gang called CREEPS. Enopia and Nillas were riding on a motorcycle when the suspects ordered them to stop by firing a gun in the air. When they disembarked, the suspect allegedly took turns in mauling them, they said.

Supt. Dionardo Carlos police city director, said the two gangs have a territory and they met at Maria Cristina Street.

Members of CREEPS had reportedly planned a revenge but this was prevented when Carlos deployed police operatives to patrol the area. Carlos said he intends to call the groups to a roundtable discussion to prevent further encounters.*JG
