Four farmers' groups recently received a total of P269,800 in
livelihood grants from the Negros Occidental provincial government
for their various livelihood projects.
Three associations from southern Negros were granted P210,000.
The recipients who each received a check for P70,000 were
Nabuswang Multi-Purpose Cooperative of Binalbagan; Malusay Fisheries
Fishermen Mangrove Association Inc. of Himamaylan City; and Sitio
Ubay Mangrove Tree Planters Association of Kabankalan City.
NMPC chairman Romulo Donato, whose 35-member group is based
in Sitio Nabuswang, Brgy. Canmuros, Binalbagan, said they will use
the fund for their swine fattening project.
MFFMAI, headed by Antonio Liansing, has 14 recipients who will
use them for their fishing nets dispersal project in Sitio Malusay,
Brgy. Caradio-an, Himamaylan City.
SUMTPA, led by Ronnie Bayona, has a crab pot or "panggal"
project in Sitio Ubay, Brgy. Daan Banwa, Kabankalan City.
The 20 member-beneficiaries of the Manara Agro-Forestry Farmers'
Multi-Purpose Cooperative in Brgy. Puey, Sagay City also received
P59,800 for their organic coffee growing with cash crops project.
Officials with Gov. Joseph Maraņon at the turn-over rites were Brgy.
Captains Felicito Gotera of Canmuros, Binalbagan; Eva Gran of Caradio-an,
Himamaylan City and Moises Morales of Daan Banwa, Kabankalan City.*NLG
