A total of 788 school children in seven pilot elementary
schools in Sagay City, Negros Occidental, were awarded 2,000 kilos
of rice that they earned from the "Read for Rice" program of the
Department of Education and the city government.
A press release from the city said the program
is an individual reading activity to enable pupils to earn points
that correspond to kilos of rice. The city is headed by Mayor Leo
Rafael Cueva.
DepEd Sagay Schools Division Superintendent Dr.
Elnora Pahunao said they hope to replicate the program in all public
schools in the city.
Education Supervisor of Sagay Dr. Janet Geroso
said the project is aimed at strengthening the pupils' reading and
thinking skills, and instill positive attitudes.
The seven pilot schools are Bato Elementary School,
Pedro Katalbas Elementary School, Cpo Bago Elementary School, Buenaventura
Rodriguez Elementary School, Fabrica Elementary School, Cesar Gamboa
Elementary School and Himoga-an Baybay Integrated School, the press

CSC
examination dates set
The Civil Service Commission in Negros Occidental
will conduct the Career Service Examination for Professional
and Sub-Professional levels on March 11, July 22 and October 28,
a CSC press release said.
The press release does not indicate the venues
of the examination.
Applicants should submit a properly filled out
Form 100 (Revised 2005) from the CSC, four passport-sized pictures
with written nametag and white background, a photocopy of a valid
identification card and a P350 application fee.
Those who qualify will be notified through mail
of the venues of the tests. Application forms should be "duly administered"
by the municipal/city mayor, notary public or the CSC Field Office
personnel. Local government employees may have their forms administered
by their Human Resource Management or Administrative officers, the
press release said.

visit the CSC-Negros Occidental Field Office, ground floor PAC Building,
Aguinaldo Street, Bacolod City, or call Tel. No. 433-8233 for inquiries,
or visit its website at www.csc.gov.ph to download application forms,

Bacolod puroks energized
The Central Negros Electric Cooperative recently
energized two puroks in Brgy. Cabug, Bacolod City, a CENECO press
release said.
The program benefited 27 households consisting
of 135 families in purok Relota Ville and 100 households of 350
families in Madinalag-on, the press release said.
Present at the switch-on ceremony were Bacolod
Rep. Monico Puentevella, and CENECO District II board of director
Julius Tamayo; Emogene Madera, chief of member-consumers integrated
services division; George Seruelo, line construction division head;
and Roel Venus, head - coop promotions section.
The CENECO officials answered queries from consumers.
Edgar Cristobal and Romeo Frante, are the purok chairmen of Relota
Ville and Madinalag-on, respectively.*

PUBLIC URGED
Bring
statement of
account in paying bills
The Central Negros Electric Cooperative is urging
its consumers to bring their statements of account every time they
pay their monthly bills, a CENECO press release said.
It said this will facilitate access to the consumer's
accounts conserve time, and avoid inconvenience.
Meanwhile, the CENECO Board of Directors recently
approved the creation of a committee on medical mission and rescue
operation aimed at enhancing its thrusts for its members, the press
release added.*
