No turning back
for mayoralty race
BY JUANCHO GALLARDE

Oriental Negros Board Member Arturo Umbac said there is no turning back in his decision to run for mayor of Dumaguete in the May 14 elections.

He said he believes it would be premature to name names for his political ticket, because even the administration candidates have not yet made a final list of its candidates for councilors.

Umbac said many have signified their intention to be with his group but they have to go through a tedious screening process.

Umbac will run under the United Opposition headed by Makati Mayor Jejomar Binay.

Mayor Agustin Perdices said those who want peace and tranquility to prevail in Dumaguete don't have to wait for any election to do it. They can do it right away by helping or cooperate with government efforts in addressing the problem, he said.

Perdices, however, said he believes Dumaguete is relatively peaceful, compared to other cities in the region.*JG
