Tuvilla's angioplasty
successful, doc says
BY CARLA GOMEZ

Negros Occidental Board Member Francis Gerard Tuvilla yesterday underwent a successful angioplasty procedure at St. Luke's Hospital, his doctor, Melvin Ybañez, said yesterday.

The angioplasty procedure involved two arteries, Ybañez said.

The board member, who has hypertensive cardio vascular disease that could lead to acute myocardial infarction, suffered from a mild heart attack Wednesday.

Angioplasty is a minor procedure where the involved coronary artery is dilated and the plaque is removed, and a stent is placed to improve the blood supply to the heart muscle, thereby restoring cardiac contractility, Ybañez added.*CPG
