City readies relief
goods for shipment

Relief goods solicited by the Bacolod City government for victims of typhoon "Reming" in Albay in November last year are ready for shipment and will be turned over to Albay Gov. Fernando Gonzales Saturday.

A City Hall press release said that donation campaign called "Task Force Albay" collected canned goods, new and used clothing, rice and noodles, toiletries, among others, to be shipped through the help of Negros Navigation Bacolod Mayor Evelio Leonardia, who launched the campaign through by the Sectoral Concerns Office, thanked those who donated calling them as "good Samaritans."

Executive Assistant Alex Coloso, SCO head, will lead the team to Legaspi, Albay on behalf of the Mayor.

The city had also extended assistance to the Guimaras provincial government through "Operation Love spell" for victims of the oil spill, and helped landslide victims in Southern Leyte through the "Task Force St. Bernard," the press release added.*

Mango picking festival set

A Mango Picking Festival will be held this weekend at the Kaitulari Mountain Spring Resort, in Moises Padilla, Negros Occidental, a press release from event organizers said.

Negrense balikbayan Larry Geronca said the event is aimed at letting local residents and Filipino expatriates savor homegrown Philippine mango-Guimaras variety.

Also featured are horseback riding around the plantation, bamboo raft sailing, folk and country concert by local musicians and bamboo dancers, and fun games.
