Dumaguete Mayor Agustin Perdices said the Macias, Arnaiz, Perdices alliance remains intact, contrary to speculations of a split.

This was after Perdices was reported to be moving up the political ladder and planning to run for governor against his childhood friend, Rep. Emilio "Dodo" Macias II (2nd district, Oriental Negros). The alliance will support each other, Perdices said.

He said he decided to drop his plan to run for governor against Macias when Arnaiz asked him to finish the various projects they have started for Dumaguete.

Oriental Negros Gov. George Arnaiz promised to expand the education campaign and consultation of the people in Tamlang Valley regarding the proposed ethanol plant.

Some Tamlang Valley farmers recently held a protest rally in front of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources Provincial Office opposing the construction of the ethanol plant.

The farmers claimed that it will paralyze the livelihood of people in the area. They also alleged that the project is anti-poor and anti-farmer.
