| The Bacolod Anti-Baha Monitoring Team said yesterday that the Bacolod City government must finish the clearing of the Banago Creek first before starting to work on the next area in order to address the flood problem.
Jean Trebol, council member, and the team conducted an ocular visit of the clearing of the Banago Creek and Mandalagan River , the relocation sites in Banago and the floodway in Purok Riverside, Banago yesterday.
Trebol said there is no question that the city is working everyday, but she believes that even if the floodway in Purok Riverside is done, it is not going to solve the flooding problem 100 percent.
Trebol also said they will also conduct education campaign on the proper disposal of garbage because they realize that everyone must do their share. “We are planning to do the education portion since everywhere garbage is really a problem,” she said.
Trebol said people must help by not throwing garbage anywhere because this is one of the major cause of flooding.
Trebol said they have also written the Department of Public Services to inquire how many garbage trucks the city has aside from its garbage collection schedule. “Our questions have no malice, we just want to approach the problem intelligently,” Trebol said.*CGS
