Fine dining at
Don and Arlene's

Socialite with a cause, which is the enhancement of Dumaguete's cultural and artistic life, Arlene Delloso Ramas-Uypitching celebrated her natal day with a dinner, at her most enchanting teahouse fronting her new home in Valencia a few winks ago.

Now in a woman's most interesting stage, with the help of businessman hubby Don, Arlene gathered her close knit pals, social “aussi” to sample a menu to end all menus conceptualized and cooked by recent graduate of the London School of Culinary Art, cousin porcelain beauty Kaye Uypitching.

The intimate guest list Jackie and Arnold Antonio, Dessa Quesada and Cobbie Palm, Sharon and Junvic Raffols, Jonathan and Irma Colburn, Esther and Heinz Windler, Jojo and Myrish Cadapan-Antonio, Maria and Terry Haveranek, Bing Valbuena, Kuya Moe Atega, Mark Fabillar, Ian Casocot and “moi” were all praises at the “Emily Post all the way” spread.

The menu is a reportage all its own, a trip to a ritzy London restaurant without the jet lag. For starters there was Cream of Potato and Leeks Soup, Green Bean and Tomato Salad with Mustard Walnut Dressing, Cold Meat Platter with Parma Ham filled with Basil and Dates, Pastrami, Pepperoni Sausage garnished with melon basket and melon balls, and parsley, Seafood Platter filled with Dill marinated Prawns, Sautéed Scallops and Smoked Salmon Cones filled with Cream Cheese and Chopped Almonds, and Mixed Greens with whole grain Mustard and Egg Dressing. The main course consisted of Roasted U. S. Rib Eye served with Roasted Potatoes and Gravy; Roasted stuffed Turkey, Grilled Tangigue garnished with buttered white and green Asparagus served with Hollandaise Sauce, Ratatouille (which I missed with a heavy heart), Herbed Wild Rice, Cheese Platter (Brie, Mustard Cheddar, Sage Derby, Gambonzola, Appenzeller and Garbonzola) garnished with celery sticks and grapes. The dessert tableau was heartened with Chocolate, Vanilla and Strawberry Pannacota Fruit Tarts garnished with cream and chocolate. “Cher Lectures, are your gustatory buds green with envy?

The table setting was “Christmassy to the max” accented with French, Spanish, Italian, Australian, and Chilean red wine bottles that went great with the orgasmic meal.

To one of my dearest friends, may you have “beaucoup plus” years of health, wealth and beauty. Merry Christmas and may the New Year bring you joy…………NOUS!*

About 90 members from various hospitals in Bacolod City came in glittery colorful masks accentuating their fashionable gowns and dresses. Participants were prepared for their special numbers, complete with costumes and props.

Among the POGS officials present were Drs. Luz Altarejos – president, Marlon Tabligan, Letty Tan, Lucia Susan Antonio, Anastacia de Asis, and Jennie Uy-Kho.

Dr. Evelyn Yu won the much coveted “Star of the Night” award.

A cosplay or “costume play” was hosted by Munsterific-Lacson where participants came dressed as their favorite Japanese animation characters – with flashy, rainbow-colored costumes and giant props

Children and out-of-towners ask to take pictures with characters like Naruto, or to sexy Sakura and Ino.

It was a memorable party at the house on top of a hill, at a private island called Eden in Hinoba-an town.

Gracious hosts Jeanette Tonggoy and Pinky Hautea welcomed their expat friends. Everyone enjoyed the buffet dinner, guests sang, danced and enjoyed the night away.*
