Prov'l football festival today

The best Negros Occidental age-group teams duke it out today in the culmination of the 1 st NOFA Grassroots Football Festival at the Ramon Torres pitch in Bago City .

Seeing action in the 4-a-side festival are the champions from the Southern, Northern and Central legs of the grassroots event for 9-Under, 11-Under, 13-Under and 15-Under players.

NOFA coordinator Paulline Javelona last night said the first to third runners-up in each of the three legs are also qualified to vie for top honors.

Leading the qualifiers from the Central leg are Maao United FC Louisiana in the 9-Under mixed, Andres Bonifacio Elementary School A, C and D, Maao United FC Louisiana, Maao United FC West A in the 11-Under mixed, ABES FC D in the 13-Under mixed, Domingo Lacson NHS FC A in the 15-Under boys' and Handumanan FC in the 15-Under girls.

The Southern leg cast will be headed by Valladolid FC in the 9-Under mixed, Himamaylan FC in the 11-Under mixed, Valladolid FC in the 13-Under mixed and Dancalan FC in the 15-Under boys'.

Multi-titled Don Bosco Technical Institute spearhead the Northern challenge. DBTI seized the titles in the 9-Under mixed, 11-Under mixed and 13-Under mixed tournaments in the one-day festival held last month in Talisay City .

Don Bosco also grabbed the 11-Under and 13-Under crowns at the expense of San Carlos City . DBTI also posted a 1-2 finish in the 9-Under division.

Another Northern leg champion, San Carlos City is favored to rule the 15-Under division.*CPT
