NORPPO tapes guns
BY RENE GENOVE

Muzzle-taping of service firearms of the Negros Oriental Police Provincial Office policemen was conducted Thursday at the PNP Provincial Headquarters, Agan-an, Sibulan and in other PNP stations in the province.

This was in line with the Oplan Iwas Paputok campaign of the national government during the Christmas and New Year's seasons.

A memorandum from police national headquarters in Camp Crame directs police officers to tape their service firearms and have the chief of police, or unit commander sign it.

Police provincial director, S/Supt. Melvin Buenafe, said policemen are prohibited from indiscriminately using their firearms that could lead to incidents of stray bullets.

Buenafe said he hopes for less firecracker victims these holidays.*RG
