Pryde recovers, to attend
Congress in January
BY ALEX PAL

Rep. Henry Pryde Teves (Neg.Or., 3 rd District), one of the victims of the Batasang Pambansa Nov. 13 bombing, may be well enough to report for work when Congress resumes its session in the third week of January.

His grandfather and predecessor, Herminio Teves, said that the young solon is recuperating in a private room at the St. Luke's Hospital in Quezon City .

He was transferred out of the Intensive Care Unit just before his 35th birthday last Tuesday.

The elder Teves also said that when he is in Manila , he visits his grandson every day. “He likes to see me,” he beamed.

He said the congressman has started to sit on his bed and will soon be using a walker to move around.

Negros Oriental Gov. Emilio Macias II visited the younger Teves last Tuesday.

Macias, who is also a medical doctor, said he was happy to see that Rep. Teves was not only out of danger but “is in a state of fast recovery.”

“He is alert and is moving every part of his body,” Macias said.

Macias also said that, contrary to rumors about the extent of Teves' burns, the blast only caused deep burns in his arms and legs, and Teves also had a fractured leg. “But his face looks okay. It will only be a matter of time before he reports back for duty.”

Macias said this should be good news for the people of Negros Oriental, particularly for his constituents in the 3rd District.*AP
