‘Kidnapper' says he
loved too much
BY PATRICK PANGILINAN

He loved too much.

This was the realization of Anecito Magbanua a day after his arrest Wednesday, for abducting his live-in partner's 9-month-old grandson and bringing him to his family's place in Hacienda Bonifacio, Brgy. Tinongan, Isabela town, Negros Occidental, Tuesday.

“I loved too much and this is what I got,” Magbanua said at the lock-up cell of Police Station 3 yesterday.

A team, including operatives from the Bacolod and Negros Occidental Police offices, the Isabela police, and the Army conducted an operation Wednesday to recover the boy and arrest Magbanua.

Magbanua said that it was his love for Linda, the boy's grandmother, that pushed him to take the child with him after the parents told him his lover had gone to Manila .

“I just wanted to see her. I didn't want to lose her,” Magbanua said.

He admitted, though, that his love was not an excuse for what he did.

“Now I'm happy that (Linda) came back, but look at where I am now,” Magbanua said.

Linda, who was actually in Cadiz City , in the province at that time, said that she left him because he becomes rowdy whenever he drinks.

The boy's parents have not yet said whether they will file charges against Magbanua but BCPO deputy director Supt. Leo Erwin Agpangan said that he could be charged with kidnapping.*PP
