Negros farmers back bill
on CARP extension

The Negros Farmers Council reportedly strongly supports House Bill 1257 that seeks the extension of the Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program implementation in the country.

HB 1257 was authored by Akbayan Partylist Rep. Riza Honteveros-Baraquel.

The NFC is an organization composed of small farmers, agrarian reform beneficiaries, advocates and claimants in Negros Oriental. Its members have counterparts in Vallehermoso, Guihulngan, Bindoy, Manjuyod, Mabinay, Siaton, Bais City and Bayawan City .

The coalition of the farmers and civil society organization is under the umbrella of Reform CARP Movement which seeks to strengthen and extend the CARP implementation, reports said.

The bill seeks to accelerate the land acquisition and distribution target, strengthen the Adjudication Board, and the creation of an Inter-Agency committees on support services and oversight.*MA
