Market vendors hit
‘Tabo sa PAO' officials
BY MARICAR ARANAS

The Dumaguete Vendors Association has complained about the operation of the Tabo sa Provincial Agriculture Office, in Dumaguete, Provincial Agriculturist Gregorio Paltinca said yesterday.

He said the PAO is given until February 2008 to decide whether to remain the Tabo sa PAO, or establish the Bagsakan Center .

Paltinca said the vendors and those who operate the Tabo must look for a solution favorable to both parties.

He also said Gov. Emilio Macias II has ordered the PAO to come up with a win-win solution.

Market vendors claimed their income was affected by the Tabo sa PAO, where agricultural products are sold at farm gate prices.

They said it is unfair to them as they are paying taxes to the government while the vendors at the Tabo sa PAO are not.

Agri-business chief Grace Dizon said they are planning to create a Bagsakan Center instead of the Tabo sa PAO, where the vendors will deliver their products and sell them in bulk.

The Tabo sa PAO is held every Wednesday and Saturday, to promote the organic farming program of the Negros Oriental government.*MA
