| The Office of the Negros Occidental Provincial Prosecutor has ordered the barangay captain and five tanods of Pandanon Silos, Murcia to answer the complaints of frustrated murder, illegal possession of firearms and violation of the gun ban, for the Oct. 28 shooting incident in the barangay.
Barangay captain Leandro dela Torre and tanods Edgar Conlu, Tony Matti, James Conlu, Mylex Cunanan and Totong Bibange were ordered to answer the complaints filed against them by the husband of the woman who was hit by a bullet in the head during the incident.
In his complaint, Winne Marañon tagged Dela Torre and the five tanods as responsible for the injury of his wife Mary Ann who remains confined at the Riverside Medical Center after the shooting incident.
Dela Torre and the tanods, however, denied yesterday the accusations, saying that the bullet that hit Mary Ann was fired by barangay kagawad Jose Magsico who ambushed them that night.
The tanods said they even helped carry the victim to the car of Dela Torre when they saw her lying on the road, wounded.
They also called on Gov. Joseph Marañon to help them clarify their involvement in the shooting incident saying it was a result of the political rivalry in their barangay.
Meanwhile, Melly Marañon, sister-in-law of the victim, said her brother is determined to file cases against the suspects to gain justice for his wife.
She said Mary Ann remains bed ridden and incapable of speech after doctors treated the bullet injury she sustained in the head.*NAB
