Five persons injured

Five persons, including a barangay tanod, were injured in stabbing, hacking and shooting incidents in Negros Occidental during the weekend that police said were triggered by old grudges.

Barangay Tanod Richard Sumugat and Ronnie de la Cruz were shot allegedly by Agustin Da-eng with a .45 caliber pistol in Brgy. Robles, La Castellana Sunday.

Sumugat and de la Cruz who are now being treated for gunshot wounds at the Dr. Enrico Elumba Clinic in La Castellana, survived. The suspect was immediately arrested by town policemen.

Seized from Da-eng who is now locked up in jail, was an unlicensed .45 caliber pistol with ammunition.

Brothers Tranquilino and Antony Unica were also shot and hacked, allegedly by brothers Glen and Dennis Sedayon in Brgy. Tampalon, Kabankalan City on Dec. 16, police said.

The Unica brothers are also being treated for gunshot and hack wounds at the Kabankalan District Hospital ,while the suspects immediately fled.

John Piccio was stabbed allegedly by Salvador Santocildes on Saturday in Brgy. 1 poblacion, Kabankalan City , police also said.*GPB
