| Operatives of the Negros Occidental police Special Operations Group staged another raid yesterday, this time against the proliferation of pornographic films, at Rizal-Bonifacio Streets in Bacolod City .
Senior Inspector Rico Santotome, NOPPO Special Operations Group chief, said the raid yielded 18 pornographic films recorded in video compact discs, being sold at P50 per VCD.
Santotome, however, said the unidentified retailer of the VCDs eluded arrest during a scuffle with members of the raiding team
SOG operatives have simultaneously raided 20 market stalls in the cities of Silay, Talisay, Himamaylan, La Carlota and Hinigaran, in Negros Occidental, for selling gun replicas.
They confiscated 150 toy guns that could be mistaken for real firearms and explosives, and with an estimated market value of P20,000.
Santotome said persons engaged in selling gun replicas may be held liable and penalized under Presidential Letter of Instruction Number 1264.
He added that the renewed campaign against the proliferation of toy guns was part of the PNP response to the hold up and robbery cases with the use of guns, and also to keep children from mistaking real guns for toy guns, resulting in accidental firing and, oftentimes, death.*GPB
