Three killed during weekend

Three persons were killed in shooting and stabbing incidents, reportedly triggered by old grudges during the weekend in Negros Occidental, police said.

Fernando Omambong, 57, was waylaid and stabbed by four suspects, while on his way home yesterday in Hacienda Manolita, Brgy. Payao, Binalbagan.

Omambong was declared dead on arrival at the Ignacio Lacson Arroyo Sr. Memorial Hospital in Isabela from stab wounds in the different parts of his body.

The four suspects identified as cousins Renante, Rey and Ricardo Sitera, and Christopher Ferrer were immediately arrested by the Binalbagan police.

Benjamen Soledad, 47, was shot allegedly also by distant relatives Mateo and Ritchie Soledad in Brgy.Bi-ao, Binalbagan, on Dec. 14, police also said.

The victim and his nephew were on their way home when they were intercepted by the two suspects, one of them armed with a homemade shotgun, police investigations showed.

Senior Inspector Gary Alan Resuma, Binalbagan police chief, said Soledad died on the spot due to multiple gunshot wounds. The two suspects fled immediately.

Three unidentified persons also shot dead Alex Quinto,30, in Sitio Sayse, Brgy. Tan-awan, KabankalanCity.

The incident was reported to the Kabankalan police by Edgardo Nifras, brother-in-law of the victim.

The three incidents are still being investigated by the police stations of Binalbagan and Kabankalan.*GPB
