‘Botagoy' tasked to stop
illegal slaughtering in city
BY CHRYSEE SAMILLANO

An ordinance adopting Task Force Botagoy as the legal body authorized in the apprehension of illegal slaughtering in Bacolod City was passed by the Bacolod Sangguniang Panlungsod on first reading Wednesday.

The SP also approved a resolution addressed to the cooperative office of the Bacolod City government to provide means of livelihood to the residents of Barangays 35 and 36.

The residents of Brgys. 35 and 36 are opposing the privatization and the transfer of the slaughterhouse in Brgy. 35 to the new slaughterhouse in Brgy. Handumanan, claiming that their livelihood will be affected.

They are demanding for the scrapping of the memorandum of agreement entered into between the city and AVM Bernardo Engineering for the completion and operation of the Bacolod City Slaughterhouse in Handumanan.

The resolution and ordinance were authored by Councilor Alex Paglumotan, chairman of the Committee on Markets and Slaughterhouse.*CGS
