Raps set vs. 17 for
brgy captain's slay
BY GILBERT BAYORAN

The Criminal Investigation and Detection Group is filing murder and frustrated murder charges this week against the 17 suspects in the assault on the house of a village chairman in Brgy. Libertad, Escalante City , which incident led to the killing of two and to injury of a barangay official.

Police Officer 2 Melvin Mocorro, CIDG investigator, yesterday said three of the 17 respondents have already been identified.

Brgy. Capt. Fernando Damalerio was injured, while his son, Ferjun, died, when their house was attacked by a group of armed men in Brgy. Libertad, Escalante City on Nov. 8. One of the attackers, identified later by the police as Romeo Agupasa. was also killed.

Mocorro said four witnesses have already executed affidavits for the filing of the charges.

He, however, refused to elaborate on the details of the complaints before its filing in court.

The New People's Army had claimed responsibility for the attack. However, the police expressed doubts on the involvement of rebels.

Police records showed that election-related incidents in Escalante City since May 14 had already claimed the lives of three supporters of a local candidate.

Troopers of the 611 th Provincial Mobile Group beefed up the Escalante police in the maintenance of peace and order in the city upland areas.*GPB
