| Teachers Salvador de Luna and Caria Campillanos, both of R.A. Medel Elementary School , were crowned Mr. and Ms. DepEd Bacolod 2007, at the 56 th DepEd Bacolod Teachers Day Celebration held at the Bacolod City National High School recently, a press release from the event organizer said.
They were crowned by Mayor Evelio Leonardia and city DepEd superintendent, Dr. Milagros Gonzales.
First runners-up were Jason Inventor of Brgy. Singcang-Airport National High School and Liezi Joy Soliva of Domingo Lacson National High School , and second runners-up were John Bagoning and Girly Lamban, both of Bacolod City National High School .
The grand winners received P10,000, roundtrip boat tickets and gift certificates. The 1 st and 2 nd runners-up got P6,000 and P4,000, respectively. All winners received trophies.
Meanwhile, De Luna and Campillanos were also named Best in Talent, Festival Costume and Formal Attire; Jason Inventor of BSANHS and Lyn Duco of A. Mabini Elementary School were adjudged Mr. and Ms. Photogenic; Michael Yanos of Montevista Elementary School and Carla Campillanos – Mr. and Ms. Congeniality; Rizza Caseño of Bata Elementary School I and Michael Yanos – Most Popular Pair; and Inventor and Soliva of DLNHS were Best in Sports Wear, the press release added.*

Club holds
impromptu speech tilt
The Barangay Toastmasters Club-3128 Toastmasters International sponsored a congressional district Impromptu Speech Contest at the Sugarland Hotel, in Bacolod City recently, a press release from the group said.
Winners were Victoria Dreyfus of St. Scholastica's Academy – champion, and Coreen Alexandria Henares of the University of St. La Salle and Fria Divinagracia as first and second runners-up, respectively.
The first and second place winners will represent Bacolod to the first Congressiponal District Speech Championship set Feb. 2, 2008.
Members of the Board of Judges were Ro Leonora, Nena Nolido, Benigno Geguellana, Emily Go Villanueva and Mhel Sillador, the press release added.*

Leadership training held
Student leaders of the Philippine Normal University in Cadiz City headed by Danilo Parcon sponsored a two-day leadership training called “Pagkakaisa ‘07” on the theme “Unity, Service, and Excellence – Cornerstones of Effective Student Leadership,” at the PNU-Cadiz campus recently, a press release from event organizer said.
The event followed the 10 th Annual Convention of the National Federation of PNU Student Leaders held at PNU-Main Campus, Taft Avenue , in Manila last October.
C/Insp. Jefferson Descallar, Cadiz police chief, was the keynote speaker who talked on the youth's response to the challenge of community peace, solidarity, and prosperity, the press release said.
The training was also participated in by representatives from campus-based organizations, interest clubs, and the Student Government. It was capped by a Lakbay Aral from the PNU campus to the beaches of Cadiz , the press release added.*
