President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo yesterday directed the Department of Agriculture to help bring down the prices of basic food items in line with the hunger mitigation program of the government.

The president instructed the DA to ensure that affordable quality food is accessible, especially to low-income families who are most affected by the rising cost of commodities, a press release from the Office of the Press Secretary said.

"Our Barangay Food Terminals and Bagsakan or drop-off points are consumer friendly and they offer affordable prices to our kababayans," Arroyo said in a press release.

Career fair held at USLS

Third and fourth year high school students from different schools in the province visited the 13 career booths set up at the University of St. La Salle Coliseum for this year's Career Fair.

The activity, sponsored by the Rotary Club of Bacolod North in cooperation with the USLS, provides students some guidance on what career to choose after graduating from high school, Rotarian Bert Nelas said.

Professionals manned the booths from which students can inquire about a particular college course, he said.

holiday incentives

Teleperformance call center agents will receive Christmas Efficiency Incentive for work rendered during weekends this December, a press release from the company said.

The Christmas efficiency incentive is part of management's holiday gift to all Bacolod agents this holiday season, TP director for Administration and Human Resources Claire Bedia said.

The incentive shall be given on top of the regular overtime premium to reward agents who will volunteer to render extra hours of work during weekends, she added.
