Gov. Joseph Marañon yesterday said the incumbent Liga ng mga Barangay representative on the Negros Occidental provincial board, George Gitano of Pontevedra, will seek reelection to the post on Dec. 29.

Marañon also expressed his preference for Cadiz SK president Jeb Marie Becaro to head the SK provincial federation that will hold their election on Dec. 17.

This is because we want a balanced representation on the provincial board -- the provincial head of the councilors' league is Raul Rivera of Kabankalan City in the south, Gitano is from central Negros and Becaro is from the north, he said.

Gitano was reelected LnB president of Pontevedra yesterday, while other winners were the sons of the mayors of Hinobaan and Victorias , and the sister of the mayor of Pulupandan.

The winning LnB presidents automatically represent the barangay captains in their respective town and city Sanggunians.

The winning LnB presidents of the 12 cities of Negros Occidental are Bago City – Ramon Yulo Jr, Cadiz City -- Wilfredo Cervantes, Kabankalan - Samuel Daclan, La Carlota -- Jacob Liansing, Sagay -- Georgie Javellosa, San Carlos -- Jonie Uy;

Silay -- Joedith Gallego, Talisay – Edwin Pahilanga, Victorias – Alexander Palanca (son of Mayor Severo Palanca), Himamaylan -- Martin Florencio Villafranca, Sipalay – Pablo Villarin Sr., and Escalante -- Aladino Lumayno Jr.

Bacolod City , which is classified as highly urbanized, will hold its LnB election on Dec. 29.

The winning LnB presidents of the 19 towns of Negros Occidental are Binalbagan -- Roberto Estrada, Calatrava -- Honeyboy Goc-ang, Candoni – Rolando Gequillana, Cauayan -- Francisco Mamigo, EB Magalona - Larry Malacon, Hinigaran – Oscar Yulo, Hinobaan -- Francisco Billbao Jr. (son of Mayor Ma. Teresa Bilbao);

Ilog -- Leo Trimucha, Isabela -- Henry Foscablo, La Castellana -- Harem Caduhada, Manapla -- Jimon Itchon, Moises Padilla -- Damaso Garcia (brother of former mayor Jose Garcia), Murcia -- Clemente de la Peña;
