City Hall employees
to get add'l P27.9M
BY CHRYSEE SAMILLANO

Bacolod Mayor Evelio Leonardia yesterday said he is asking the Sangguniang Panlungsod to appropriate P27.9 million for the extra cash gifts of regular and plantilla casual employees of the City Hall.

Leonardia said this will allow the 2,256 employees of the city to receive an extra cash gift of P12,000 each this Christmas. The city also gave them their mid-year bonus of P5,000 each, he said.

This year all city employees were also given a 10 percent salary increase from July to December 2007 as mandated by the national government, Leonardia said. It is something the city government anticipated when it prepared the 2007 budget, he said. The amount added to the budget was P15 million, he said.

“When you talk of P15 million divided by 2,256 employees, each of them received an additional P6,648 for 2007,” the mayor said.

If all the benefits they received outside of their 13 th month pay were summed up, each employee will receive about P23,000 this year as against last year which was only P14,000, he said.

But Leonardia said technically, they cannot give the job order casuals extra cash gifts.*CGS
