Cops probing deaths of 2 in Bacolod City

Law enforcers are investigating separate stabbing and shooting incidents that left two people dead and another injured in Bacolod City during the weekend, the police said yesterday.

Dequito Pasilan, of Purok 6, Brgy. Tangub, and Jomar Serupia of Purok Riverside, Brgy. Banago, both in the city, died of multiple stab wounds, police records showed.

Pasilan, 53, died while being treated at the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital after Diosdado Marquez, 30, stabbed him in Purok 6, at about 6:30 p.m. Sunday, Police Station 8 commander, Senior Inspector Placido Gentoleo said.

Serupia, 16, meanwhile, was found dead at a foot walk after a riot broke out during a public disco in Purok Riverside at about 11:20 p.m. Saturday, police records said.

Initial investigation showed that Pasilan had an argument with Marquez and was eventually stabbed by the suspect after they pacified a confrontation between Pasilan's son and Marquez's nephew, Gentoleo said.

Marquez, who is a native of Himamaylan town, Negros Occidental, is still at large but Gentoleo said they will most likely file a murder charge against him once the family and the witnesses have executed their affidavits.

Serupia's mother, on the other hand, said that unidentified persons ganged up on her son for still unknown reasons.

Meanwhile, Diosdado Puertes, 25 was brought to CLMMRH after an unidentified person shot while he, his brother, and his cousin were on their way home also in Brgy. Banago.

SPO3 Romulo Bravo of Police Station 3 said that the two incidents in Banago could have been triggered by continuous retaliatory acts among groups in the area.*PP
