| Himamaylan City was cited by the Department of Labor and Employment as the Top Implementor of the Special Program for the Employment of Students in Western Visayas at the agency's recent Year-End Planning and Assessment Conference in New Washington, Aklan.
The award, presented by DOLE Regional Director Aida Estabillo, was given in recognition of the city's effort to provide jobs to the highest number of deserving students in the region.
SPES is a program of the DOLE in partnership with the local governments and private agencies that provide temporary employment to students and out-of-school youths during summer and Christmas vacation.
Himamaylan has also been awarded third place in Public Employment Services Office Program implementation for working for the placement of skilled and unskilled workers both locally and abroad.
Under the leadership of Mayor Carminia Bascon, the city government has conducted through the PESO a jobs fair, mobile passport services and special recruitment activities, and provided assistance to OFWs and their families.
Both awards were presented by PESO manager Roslyn Toreta to Bascon during the City Hall's flag raising ceremony last Monday.*
