Marijuana user nabbed

The police confiscated dried marijuana leaves and a revolver with ammunition from a man caught in the act of smoking marijuana in Brgy. Palampas, San Carlos City , Negros Occidental, Saturday.

Supt. Harold Tuzon, San Carlos police chief, yesterday identified the arrested suspect as Hercules Hiponia. Seized from him were a .38 caliber revolver with two live ammunition, and two empty shells, about seven grams of dried marijuana leaves, 22 sticks of marijuana cigarets and roaches, four stems of uprooted marijuana plants and rolling papers.

Tuzon also credited the successful operation to a tip from concerned citizens in the barangay.

Troopers of the 6 th Regional Mobile Group assisted the San Carlos police in the arrest of Hiponia who is now locked up in jail.

Meanwhile, Senior Inspector Rico Santotome yesterday said that four persons were arrested for violation of Republic Act 9287, or the amended law on illegal gambling, in La Castellana, Negros Occidental.

Nabbed by a combined team of the Negros Occidental police Special Operations Group and the La Castellana police were Dyna Dionela, Marilyn Lausa, Agatona Recumba and Anadosa Agupo.

Seized from their possession were assorted illegal gambling paraphernalia and P20 in alleged cash bets.*GPB back to top

3 collared for
theft, robbery

Three persons, one a minor, were arrested, for robbery and theft complaints in Bacolod City during the weekend, Police reports said.

Eric Orolan, 18, of Purok Sigay, Brgy. 2, Bacolod City , was arrested by tanods and a kagawad of Brgy. 1, in the city, for allegedly snatching the wallet of Leomar Remegio of Brgy. Zone 4-A, Talisay City , Negros Occidental in Purok Sigay, at about 1:50 p.m. Saturday.

Remegio told the police that he was about to pay his fare to a trisikad driver when Orolan grabbed his wallet with P5,000 in cash and fled towards the inner part of Purok Sigay.

Barangay officials later arrested Orolan in Purok Bolinao but the wallet and the money were not recovered.

Orolan, who is now detained at the lock-up cell of Police Station 2, admitted to stealing Remegio's wallet.

Meanwhile, two women were endorsed by two mall security guards to the police for allegedly trying to leave the business establishments without paying for the items they had taken.

Paz Zapata, 43, of Brgy. Villamonte, was endorsed to Police Station 1 by security guard Wilfredo Imagen for allegedly trying to leave SM Department Store without paying for the two pairs of denim pants costing P1,399.75 each that she took at about 5:30 p.m. Saturday, police reports said.

A 15-year-old girl, on the other hand, was endorsed to Police Station 1 by security guard Jonathan Demontaño for allegedly trying to leave Lopue's Araneta without paying for the bottles of cologne, baby oil, and deodorant with a total price of P100.25 that she took, at about 4:50 p.m. Saturday, police records showed.*PP
