Agriculture indispensable
sector in RP: World Bank

The World Bank revealed its 2008 agriculture development plan for the Philippines at a video conference held Friday at Silliman University Computer Center , in Dumaguete City .

The conference was also conducted simultaneously in the cities of Davao , Manila and Baguio , and spearheaded by the Department of Agriculture, National Economic and Development Authority and the World Bank.

Silliman University is the only institution in the Visayas and Mindanao which is accredited by the Knowledge Center of the World Bank.

The Dumaguete Portal featuring the different universities and colleges in the city through a website was launched recently at Bethel Guest House, recently by the Department of Trade and Industry and the Consortium of Higher Education in Negros Oriental.

The concept of the web page, www.dumagueteunitown.com, is presenting Dumaguete as a university town.

Regional Director of DTI Asteria Caberte was the guest speaker at the launching, which was done through the signing of memorandum of agreement among stakeholders.

NOHRRA holds bazaar

The Negros Oriental Hotel Resort and Restaurant Association launched Friday its 1st Christmas Bazaar at the historic Silliman University Hall beside the Rizal Boulevard , in Dumaguete City .

TV chef Tristan Encarnacion was the guest of honor.

NOHRRA members are exhibiting native handicraft products at the bazaar, association president Christy Locsin-Bollos said. She also said the proceeds of the event will be used as project funds for the members.
