A gentler you
Ms. Leonardia: I thought that you perhaps.... like the elder President Bush...would be a more gentler...and more loving you. But....you did it again and, as you may suspect, I have come at you with two barrels loaded. (Like in the western). There are so many ills in the Philippines ....Hello Garci.....sacks full of money...a general and senator trying to overthrow the government and around 32 personel traveling with the president. Oh yes...whatever happened with that China deal?
I wrote your co-hort....Mr. Esleyer... sometime ago about three miscarriages of justice and have never heard from him on that. Whatever happened to those two "boys" who were charged with killing their parents. (Course that is just murder and not like a "supposed" rape. Then there were the two hot rodders who killed a school teacher. Again....that's just murder. And....how about that lady who disfigured her neighbor? I guess they are all free.
I'm reminded of a small incident in America in the early '70's…some guys broke into the Democratic headquarters in Washington , D.C. That would not even make page 20 in an 18 page newspaper in the Philippines . (In fact...it wouldn't even be mentioned.) Then two enterprising newspaper men from the Chicago paper investigated this robbery in a building called the "Watergate." It brought down the president of the United States in '74. Now I want to know something. I'm 82 and if I go out and commit a crime...rape a gal...(possible) rob a bank, or…kill a guy...Does that mean that I would not be arrested? After all...I am over 70. The kids and over 70 have it nice. If all these infractions of the law are occurring in the Philippines ... I just don't think that too many ladies will revolt if the Lance Cpl. gets off. And…I just wished that he would.
As Mr. Esleyer once wrote me..."You defend your country and I'll defend mine." Please leave us alone. And Mr. Mayor…You once told me that I fitted in nice in the Philippines because of my wide smile. You know…this is such beautiful country but garbage is strewn all over. What we need is more garbage trucks. And we need laws where people who toss garbage are fined. Our garbage is picked up whenever they get their truck repaired. So said my wife Annie today. Oh yes...can we get I street paved?
Thank you. Regards

I wish I knew what Mr. Strause is really driving at, but, as he says, he is already 82 and since President Arroyo lets go those who have reached only 70, I think I'll take her cue. – NRL
