| Giant Christmas Trees with a nativity scene prominently integrated in the design, now adorns the façade of the Bacolod City Water District.
The trees, made of recycled and indigenous materials, were set up from the six departments of BACIWA who are competing for the grand prize of P2,000 for the best Christmas tree.
Given a freehand to design their tree and encouraged to integrate the nature of their work and functions to their entry, the employees transformed their departments into a community of workers with everyone sharing his idea and resources.
The Engineering Department put up a tree made of aluminum pipes shaped into candles with flickering red lights on its tips.
The tree of the Commercial Department is made of scratch paper rolled into balls and painted green. The red star on top of the tree completes the work and once the lights on the tree are switched on at nighttime, the display glows in the dark.
Emphasizing the message of recycling, the Administrative Department put up a tree made of colored plastic wrappers. Small cards with messages pinned on the tree written by the employees remind everyone of the essence of Christmas – love, sharing and kindness.
In terms of creativity, ours may not be the best but the bonding we established with our officemates while working on the tree is something we will treasure, Joy Cañonero from the administrative building said.
The trees have transformed the façade of BACIWA building into a colorful and vibrant sight at nighttime and all of us are proud of our displays, she added.*NAB
